In between recording Migos’ Culture II, Quavo has been in the studio with Kanye West. While fans might expect ‘Ye behind the boards, it’s actually been the other way around.
“I did a couple beats for Kanye,” Quavo revealed during an interview with Los Angeles radio station REAL 92.3. “Me and [DJ] Durel.”
Huncho, who prefers to use Fruity Loops to make his instrumentals, said that crafting beats for Kanye allowed him to get a glimpse into Yeezy’s work as a producer, as well. “It’s crazy,” he added. “He got a crazy different feel. He got all his old shit that he came, that he had coming in making beats…He still uses his original keyboard and he still has old hard drives, old samples, and beats.”
In the past, the two have collaborated on tracks like Yo Gotti’s “Castro” and the star-studded “Champions.”
Elsewhere during the interview Takeoff shared his love for wrestling and Offset said the group shouldn’t be excluded from top artist discussions simply for being a collective. “When they be saying the top, there be some flops on there,” he said. “I don’t see the gang on there. Something wrong. It’s a cheat code to keep us out. You can’t keep us out though.”
Culture II is due Jan. 26.
Nipsey Hussle is all about the grind.
Hot off his YG collaboration “Last Time That I Checc’d,” the Crenshaw spitter drops two new videos from his Victory Lap LP in the form of “Grinding All My Life” and “Stucc in the Grind.”
The two-for-one clip starts off with “Grinding All My Life” and it features a day-in-the-life perspective. The Cali rapper starts off his day counting money, then heads out to ship orders, before hitting the bank and checking in on his Marathon Clothing store.
Nip uses the track to speak on a Las Vegas incident that allegedly took place in 2011. “You creamed them punks,” he tells an associate. “After all that lookin’ tough, all he seen was stomps / 50 Cent and Mayweather fleed the scene with us, true story.”
Following “Grinding All My Life” is “Stucc On the Grind,” a video filled with luxury. Nip starts the visual by flipping through channels and rhyming inside of an empty closet in a beautiful suite, but the video also works as a detailed look inside of a sleek BMW 750i.
Featuring “Rap Ni**as” and “Last Time That I Checc’d,” Victory Lap is due Feb. 16.
Chris Brown is shining. To celebrate last year’s double album Heartbreak on a Full Moon, the R&B crooner gifted himself with an iced-out chain and pendant.
The sparkly piece features the album cover’s bleeding heart over the moon, a play on the title. Adding to its realistic qualities, the veiny heart even has a sheen to it.
Jeweler to the stars Elliot Avianne was responsible for the chain. In the past, he’s also created pendants for Travis Scott, Migos, Metro Boomin, Lil Uzi Vert, Big Sean, Future, Playboi Carti, and Cardi B. Last year, Brown went to Avianne for a special piece designed to look like his French bulldog, which he placed around the puppy’s neck.
Brown is also shining in the studio. He can be heard on Remy Ma’s latest single “Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown),” and has teased collaborations with Scott Storch and a mixtape with Jacquees.
Last week, Jhené Aiko announced that Slim Jxmmi was set to appear on her Swae Lee-assisted collaboration “Sativa” off Trip. Now, the Rae Sremmurd MC unveils a preview of his addition.

In related news, Jhené and Big Sean are still going strong. Over the weekend, the couple showed off their love at Dior Homme’s Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Menswear show during Paris Fashion Week.
