Jhené Aiko takes a Trip into the future with Rae Sremmurd in the video for the newly-released remix to “Sativa.”
Matching the song’s overall vibe, the visual is quite the psychedelic trip. Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi unlock a touch-screen portal and are transported into a dreamlike world, where they meet up with Jhené, who shows off several looks, including a mysterious card dealer, a leather-wearing seductress, a red contact-sporting beauty, and that of a vulnerable damsel in a nude bikini.
Jhené’s confidence in the visual is matched by her cockiness on the track. “I said go and take a shot on me,” she sings. “Only drug a bitch is on is the tree / But I lasted 10 rounds like a freak / Like a G.”
According to Aiko, the song took nearly two years to complete. “I had this melody for almost two years now and I just couldn’t put it into words,” she told NPR. “Everyone, even No I.D., was like, ‘Why don’t you just put it on your album like that, so people can just feel what you’re saying.’ Then, at the very last minute, Amaire [Johnson], who produces on the album, said, ‘We should call Swae Lee.’ And I’m a fan. So we had a session, he came through. That inspired me and I came up with new verses.”

Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert reunite in the video for their hypnotic 2017 collaboration “Lookin.”
Directed by AWGE, the visual features Carti milly-rocking through the streets, in record shops, and in front of liquor stores. Later, Uzi emerges with stacks of cash in hand and diamonds around his neck. The clip is a dynamic kaleidoscope of special effects, boasting collage-like clips, static-filled transitions, secret handshakes, and plenty of shoulder shimmies.
“Lookin” is one of two Uzi collaborations on Carti’s self-titled debut, which dropped last year. The duo has since teased a joint project titled 16*29, and an accompanying tour, though the latter was canceled. Last month, Uzi and Carti teamed up once again, this time on “Squad (Firearm).”
Meanwhile, Uzi has been staying busy. He is currently prepping the follow-up to Luv Is Rage 2, and recently released tracks like “200 My Dash,” the NAV-assisted “Wanted You,” and “Mood” with TM88 and Southside.
