Michelle Williams Is Engaged to Pastor Chad Johnson

Michelle Williams says yes. The Destiny’s Child alum has announced her engagement to pastor Chad Johnson.

“We could not contain this any longer,” an overjoyed Williams tells PEOPLE of the month-long private engagement.

The couple met in March of 2017 during one of Johnson’s spiritual retreats. “I was in a horrible, dark place,” she said, referring to her previous relationship, which ended with her infidelity. “I just needed to go somewhere where I could get a message of hope and restoration, rejuvenation — get connected to God.”

After exchanging text messages and DMs, Johnson and Williams began courting one another through FaceTime for about three months. “I didn’t even tell any people I was talking to Chad,” she explained. “I wanted to treat this relationship differently because obviously, all my past relationships have failed. I didn’t want to talk about another relationship that possibly wasn’t gonna go anywhere.”

Williams said she dropped her guard around Johnson. “What kept drawing me and drawing me at first was I felt like I could be myself,” she explained. “My first name is Tenitra; my middle name is Michelle. I felt like I could be Tenitra: just ratchet, I didn’t have to have on any makeup, if I had to have on my hair bonnet — he just made me feel very safe in being myself.”

Johnson asked for Williams’ family’s blessing and videotaped the experience. He then shared the video with his bride-to-be before getting on one knee about a month ago. “I started weeping and wailing when I see all these special people,” she added. “Towards the end of the video, something in my head said, ‘Pull yourself together! He’s about to propose! Stop all this crying!'”

Williams and Johnson are eyeing a summer wedding. “We do wanna get married very, very soon,” she said. “We’ve been moving very quickly and planning. Why wait? I want to get married now, but he wants a wedding!”

Adele Celebrates Rihanna’s ‘Groundbreaking’ Achievements for TIME 100

Adele honors Rihanna. The vocal powerhouse paid tribute to her pop counterpart as part of TIME’s annual 100 Most Influential People of 2018.

“I actually can’t remember the first time I met Rihanna; I was probably numb from the shock of it,” writes Adele. “She is one year older than me, but I feel like she’s been around forever. The progression of her superstardom feels steady, well deserved and extremely natural.”

After mentioning 2005’s “Pon De Replay,” the British superstar singles out 2007’s “Umbrella” as a milestone moment. “It crossed her over to every platform and into everyone’s lives,” she added. “It felt like she had truly arrived, and she hasn’t slowed down since.”

Adele also went on to celebrate Bad Gal’s role as a rule breaker and innovator. “She has designed and conquered an entire lane of her own,” she wrote. “The innovative and groundbreaking world of Rihanna that no one else will ever be safe in and get away with copying. She makes her own rules and bends ours.”

Most notably, Adele honored Rihanna for being a gracious star who “doesn’t give a fuck.” “Whenever I’ve met her, she’s been the most gracious, loyal and funny goofball of an icon,” she continued. “She glows like when someone’s taken a picture with a flash and you’re dazed for a few minutes after. But it’s also very clear in that glow that she genuinely doesn’t give a fuck; she’s fearless and full of all the right kind of attitude to be everything that she is and will be forever.”

Cardi B is also a member of this year’s TIME 100. Taraji P. Henson wrote about her for the mag. “Now she’s the biggest thing in music,” said the Golden Globe-winning actress. “And even with all those eyeballs watching, she’s still unapologetically herself. Cardi B’s here to stay, baby, and I’m happy to be a witness.”

Other TIME 100 honorees this year also include Tiffany Haddish, Issa Rae, Jesmyn Ward, Trevor Noah, Ryan Coogler, Kehinde Wiley, and Lena Waithe.

Cardi B Talks Pregnancy, Baby Name, & Stripping on ‘Ellen’

Cardi B’s talk show invasion isn’t over. After co-hosting “The Tonight Show,” the mom-to-be stopped by “Ellen” on Thursday (April 19), where she opened about everything from pregnancy to stripping.

The Invasion of Privacy MC also took a trip down memory lane, explaining what she was like as a child. “I was always the funny kid,” she said. “I used to get kicked out of class. I wasn’t like a bad kid. I was just very disruptive. It’s so hard not to tell jokes and stuff.”

As she got older, she made a financial decision that paid off. “I always wanted to be an artist, but I gave up on my dream because music was not paying my bills,” she revealed. “I [stripped] for three-and-a-half years…A lot of people want me to be like, ‘I hated it.’ I don’t recommend to everybody because it’s not for everybody, but it made me money. It paid my bills. It got me my own apartment and my boob job…I started getting a lot of money and the money I made, I used it to invest in my dream.”

The appearance took place in between Coachella performances. Cardi even revealed why she twerked and danced all over the Indio, Calif. stage. “They say that the more you move, the easier it will come out,” she explained. “I’m like, ‘Come out fast.'” She also revealed that it was her pregnancy method. “I was just trying to show the world how I got pregnant in the first place,” she added. “Like that! That’s how it happened.”

Although she hasn’t revealed the baby’s gender, Cardi said she already has a name picked out. “My dude [Offset] named the baby,” she said. “I really like the name. I’ma let him say the name since he named the baby. It’s like, almost tricky, but when it comes out, it’s like, ‘Ah!'”

Ellen offered $20,000 if the baby could have her name. Bardi joked that she might choose it as a middle name. To celebrate, the host gifted her a baby version of her album cover outfit.

Finally, the laughs continued during a game of Ellen’s famous “5 Second Rule.” Cardi B joked around during the game and it paid off. She beat Ellen in the end. Now, she’s gearing up for Weekend 2 of Coachella on Sunday.
