Watch Beyoncé’s Epic Coachella Performance

Coachella turns into Beychella. Beyoncé proved why she is one of the world’s greatest entertainers on Saturday (April 14) with a history-making performance on Day 2 of Coachella.

After postponing last year’s performance due to her pregnancy, Queen Bey slayed with a spectacular 105-minute set, complete with a marching band, outfit changes, and fireworks. Backed by an army of 100 dancers and band members, she kicked off the homecoming-themed performance with a pep rally. After entering in a regal Balmain ensemble, ‘Yoncé changed into a yellow hoodie and denim cutoff shorts.

“Coachella, y’all ready?” she asked before opening with “Crazy in Love.” She owned the stage with hit after hit, including “Freedom,” “Formation,” “Sorry,” “Bow Down,” “Diva,” “Flawless,” “Feeling Myself,” and “Don’t Hurt Yourself.”

As the first African-American female headliner, Queen Bey thrilled festivalgoers with a cameo from JAY-Z (“Déjà Vu”) before reuniting with her Destiny’s Child groupmates. Dressed in matching outfits, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams hit the stage for a trio of hits including “Lose My Breath,” “Say My Name,” and “Soldier.” Even Solange popped up for a “Get Me Bodied” dance off.

Following fan favorites like “Single Ladies,” ‘Yoncé delivered a heartwarming speech to her fans at home and in Indio, Calif. “I just wanna say thank you guys. I’m so happy that I’m here,” she said. I was supposed to perform at Coachella before but I ended up getting pregnant, thank God, and I had time to dream and dream and dream with two beautiful souls in my belly. I dreamt up this performance. This is everything and more than I dreamt of it being. Thank for sharing this with me.”

Watch dvsn’s Aaliyah & Prince Mashup

dvsn takes on Aaliyah and Prince.

During a performance for BBC Radio 1Xtra’s “Live Lounge,” the OVO duo of Daniel Daley and Nineteen85 delivered a rousing cover medley mashup of Aaliyah’s “One in a Million” and Prince’s “Purple Rain.”

The throwback-influenced performance took place in a violet-lit room, which only added to the Prince-inspired ambiance. Backed by three powerful singers, Daley created a classic blend, while Nineteen85 plucked an acoustic guitar.

dvsn didn’t stop there. On top of the aforementioned covers, the duo also performed “Mood” live in the 1Xtra Live Lounge. This time, the room’s lighting was a mixture of red, orange, and pink, which only heightened the song’s passionate vibes.

This wasn’t the first time dvsn covered the Aaliyah classic with some Prince influence. In fact, their version of the mashup has been floating around since 2016. Meanwhile, “Mood” came out as part of last year’s Morning After.

The Canadian duo is currently on the “Morning After World Tour,” which wraps April 4 in Stockholm.
